JSC “PNITI” – one of the first in Russia has mastered a technology of ion-vacuum nitriding of metals. Since 1975 the institute is engaged in introduction of technology and production of installations for ion-vacuum nitriding of various modifications and also renders services in ion-vacuum nitriding of products and parts.
Ion nitride hardening is a low- temperature thermo- chemical process performed in glow– discharge plasma in a gas- nitrogen- rich medium. Ions of nitrogen are accelerated by the electrical field and than bombard the part surface creating conditions for atomic nitrogen active diffusion into a crystal lattice of a metal, resulting in forming a nitrated case with increased hardness.
Through changing kinetic and gas dynamic parameters of this process it is possible to receive high- qualitative coatings of regulated structure with optimized complex of properties, based on the operating conditions requirements.
At the ion- nitriding of parts, including parts of complex shape a nitrided layer of the uniform thickness is formed.
Advantages of ion nitriding technology:
- high speed of diffusion;
- forming of diffused layers of the given phase structure and composition;
- insignificant deformations of products when processing and a high class of roughness;
- forming of a nitrided layer of the uniform thickness on all surfaces of the part;
- high profitability of the process, increase in efficiency of the electric power;
- process is environmentally friendly and non-toxical, installation meets the requirements for environment protection and can settle down in mechanical shops.
The conventional limit of corrosion endurance of the nitrided steel is 6 times more than of the not nitrided steel.
Up-to-date electronic base has allowed to switch over to the use of a pulse glow- discharge resulting in the increase of work reliability of installations.
Now JSC “PNITI” produces installations with a power up to 200 kW, diameters of 600/800/1000/1200 mm and height from 600 to 6000 mm.
Production of installations for ion nitriding is conducted under orders and according to pre- agreed specifications. Time of manufacture of one installation – 6-12 months, depending on power and sizes of chambers.
